If you're headed to the gig I'll have a beer with you, if you're not I'll be sure to have one on your behalf!

Bring Me The Horizon Finish Up New Album

Bring Me The Horizon have finished up work on their follow up to 2008's hugely successful "Suicide Season". They returned to Studio Fredman in Gothenburg and Oli Sykes had this to say of the new material:

"We were all worried that we couldn’t live up to our own hype, but we all think we’ve blown it away with what we’ve made now. We took a lot of risks with this album and I think they’ve all paid off. We’re not nervous and anxious at all, we just want to get it out there for people to hear.”

Suicide Season seemed to pretty much divide the metal community but, to be honest, it doesn't matter what you think... it was killer. Nothing at all has leaked yet and there's no word on a release date but an Autumn/Winter 2010 is looking likely!

Rolo Tomassi to Support DEP on UK Tour

The Dillinger Escape Plan UK tour is definitely one of the most anticipated live events of the remainder of 2010. However, as if it wasn't significantly great bringing along Between the Buried and Me over with them last time, this time they're taking out the excellent Rolo Tomassi!

The full dates for the tour are:
27 Oct 2010 Uni Garden Court, Southhamption
28 Oct 2010 Academy 2, Birmingham
29 Oct 2010 The Garage, Glasgow
30 Oct 2010 Club Academy, Manchester
1 Nov 2010 Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
2 Nov 2010 Academy, Bristol
3 Nov 2010 Waterfront, Norwich
4 Nov 2010 Concorde 2, Brighton
5 Nov 2010 Electric Ballroom, London

If you aren't familiar with Rolo Tomassi head over here

And not that anyone would need it but for Dillinger head here

Pull on your Norma Jeans...

...& go listen to the stream of their new album "Meridional" on their myspace.

Meridional is out today on Razor and Tie Records. It's not a huge departure for them but why would you want that anyway!? All that matters is that it's a bunch of incredible Norma Jean tracks for people who like Norma Jean...which is most everyone apart from that one guy I met outside The Chariot gig.

Free Knut mp3

An mp3 full to the brim with Knut's sludgey, mathy mayhem is available for download here. It's from the Swiss outfit's latest offering "Wonder".

If you don't know of Knut you should pick up Terrarformer asap as it is seminal. In lieu of a proper review of "Wonder" just take it from me it's well worth grabbing.

Danza III 100 Word Review

Danza III: The Series of Unfortunate Events

Danza III is an absolute tour-de-force that doesn't rely on blast beats to be an absolute face melter. It's like the bastard offspring of The Red Chord, Meshuggah and Pantera. Expect complex riffage and kick-drum patterns punctuated with Dillinger Escape Plan worthy high end discordance and then fear as you're pummelled with frequencies not usually heard outside drone metal. Sure, there's the odd sense of riff déjà-vu here and there but there's way too many finely crafted songs and soul crushing riffs to let that be an issue.

Grab the album but if you need something to sweeten the deal you can grab the track "Sammy Jenkins" courtesy of Metal Injection here or check out Danza's myspace.

Score: 9/10

Black Dahlia Murder Live Videos

Metal Injection's ever dependable bootleg series has 5 Black Dahlia Murder videos. BDM kill live so while they're on break from touring why not reminisce about that time you saw them on the Deflorate tour with this...and if you didn't see them on the Deflorate tour you seriously need to reconsider whether you have any taste at all.

Here are the links to them all:

Where the Hell is the New Abigail Williams Album!?

What's happened!? Last we heard all the parts were down for the new Abigail Williams album. Sorceron (guitarist/vocalist) had this to say of the new material:

"There are a lot less keyboards on the new songs. They are far more guitar-driven and have a bit more of a traditional sound in some ways but still very Abigail Williams sounding. We let ourselves have much more room with writing this album; kind of a more open, free environment than any we have employed before. The studio experience this time round was very natural to us. We recorded everything with much more ease and I think it has helped in capturing a very honest vibe."

So far, so metal and good. Then everything went over to Peter Tagtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Celtic Frost) for mixing which was scheduled to take a month.

THAT WAS IN APRIL!!!

There's been nothing since!? Time to start digging.

Black Metal Baby Sitting

The parenting guide we've all been waiting for.

Shannon Lucas Drum Lessons

Shannon Lucas is offering to do drum lessons while Black Dahlia Murder is off tour. If only Detroit wasn't so far away.

Bohemian Rhapsody is so 2010

If you thought only Muse were cashing in on the Queen card then check this shit out...

I imagine it must have went down like this:

Video Director: "Hey Heavenly, I'm really glad to be onboard. What do you want to achieve from this video?"

Heavenly (in 4 part harmony): "Just distract from how utterly crap this song is in any way possible".

Video Director: "Shit, it is terrible. I'll start with you flying in space, throw on some pretty contemporary video effects but I fear I may have to force some poor girl to get her top off".

Heavenly: "Magnifico-o-o-o-o!"

Allegaeon Karaoke

Allegaeon (who have clarified it's pronounced "uh-lee-juhn" so we don't end up with that embarassing "Torche" thing again) are one of Metal Blades more recent signing. Their debut, "Fragments and Forms of Function", drops on July 20th.

They've released this video to showcase their take on the tech-death genre. For some reason they've provided it in karaoke form so feel free to sing along I guess.

New Cephalic Carnage Track Streaming

I love my hyrdogrind as much as the next man and the world's greatest (and admittedly only) hydrogrind band have a new track streaming right here. Get to it! (It's fucking excellent by the way.)

Good to see "Giant Floating Demon Skull Exploded by UFO" artwork is making a comeback!

Misled by Certainty is out August 21st on Relapse.

Danza III Guitar Tracking

Danza III is undoubtedly one of the contenders for metal album of 2010. It's like the bastard offspring of The Red Chord, Meshuggah and Pantera. Never has extreme metal grooved more finely than this. So with that in mind, here is Josh laying down some completely insane riffage...
